BIOGRAPHY
Erika Clarke is a New York City based supervising producer, director and writer. Before she graduated from New York University in 1997 with a degree in Journalism/Mass Communications, she interned at Caroline Records (now Astralwerks) in their publicity department. Next, she interned in the editorial department of TIME for Kids and then worked as an editorial assistant for the TIME Education Program. Her career in television started in the MTV News department where she worked as an associate producer on the Choose or Lose Special: The Bus Stops Here, kicking off a 10-year career at the network.
Her tenure continued in the News and Documentaries department at MTV as an associate producer on an off-beat pilot about touring celebrities' homes. From that pilot she rose to be the supervising producer of CRIBS, one of the highest-rated, longest-running shows on MTV. Between producing and directing episodes for CRIBS, Erika has contributed to other series such as: My Super Sweet 16, True Life, and Diary. She received an NAACP Image Award nomination for the Diary of Aaliyah, which was also selected to be screened at the San Francisco and Hollywood Black Film Festivals.
In addition to television production, Erika is a journalist whose work has appeared on-line and in publications such as: Frommers.com, Amplifier Magazine, iVillage and more. Her still photography can be seen in the book, Diary, published by MTV Books and on this site. She has also done voice-overs for MTV.
